Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine has to do with understanding the interactions between psychology, behavioral, and cultural factors on medical illness/wellness. Behavioral medicine can be used interchangeably regarding preventing, diagnosing ,and treating patients with psychosomatic disorders or ailments that cannot be fully explained by medicine. I specialize in providing psychotherapy/counseling for clients who are afflicted with cancer, psycho-oncology and their families, chronic pain, women's health/infertility issues, eating disorders, stress, and going through grief/loss, or other medical conditions through a psychological lens. I bring forth experience from working in a functional restoration program (chronic pain management), in a primary care interface team, at an employer onsite integrative clinic, facilitating cancer support groups, a psycho-oncology research group, Women's Health, Gestational Diabetes, and Behavioral Medicine Research Groups, volunteering at George Mark Children's House (hospice), interning at UPENN's Weight and Eating Disorders Clinic, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia/Children's Seashore House and Rhode Island Hospital's Child Development Center. Some of the key concepts are Locus of Control, Prochaska's Stages of Change, Quality of Life, Sleep Hygiene, Mindfulness, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
